4th World Wushu Junior Championships 2012, Macau China
Macau, Sept 2012
Tim Sastrowiardjo 5th/9 for men’s TaiChi Quan 42 A, and 4th/6 for men’s Jian A
This world event, held in the former colony of Portugal, was participated by 40 countries from 5 continents.
The diverse performed routines in different categories are in general of high level, expressive, superb and awesome! In the epicenter of Wushu world, there is no doubt, that the tournament was constantly dominated by Asian countries, such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, Korea and Philippines. Other countries were also significantly present: Iraque, Russia, Ukraine, USA and Canada among others. So, these countries were constantly appearing in the top 10 in ranking. Consequently, putting yourself within this top 10 position would be therefore, more than a good achievement, especially for The Netherlands.
Tim Sastrowiardjo from Wushu Institute Hoyer, was one of the 4 athletes who represented the Dutch National Team. In this tournament he demonstrated the TaiChi Quan 42 A, and for men’s Jian A.
This TaiChi routine was more than a sudden decision: nearly 3 months prior to the tournament, Tim had to study and exercise it from scratch! But as we all familiar with Tim his his quick learning curve, he again made exponential progress within the given compressed timing. Moreover, putting himself in a 5th place within a poule of 9 worlds best athletes, it is a tremendous achievement!
